The Sundance Film Festival came to the Michigan Theater on Thursday with the premiere of Cyrus, the latest film from the Duplass brothers. The showing was part of the new initiative, Sundance Film Festival USA, which aimed at bringing a bit of the festival experience to local theaters around the country, specifically ones who are connected to the independent film industry. Joined by seven other cities, Brookline, Brooklyn, Chicago, Los Angeles, Madison, Nashville, and San Francisco, Ann Arbor was definitely one of the smallest chosen to take part.

Because of the success of Cyrus, the Michigan Theater added another official selection of the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, Bilal's Stand. It will screen on Sunday, January 31st at 6:00 PM.
